Frequently Asked Questions
General Services
What services do you provide?
We provide professional stump grinding services for a variety of property types. Our work focuses on safe, efficient stump grinding using professional equipment.
Do you remove the stump completely?
Stump grinding removes the visible portion of the stump. Roots remain underground and will naturally decompose over time.
Do you remove the wood chips?
By default, wood chips are left on site and used to fill the ground area where the stump was located. Removal of wood chips can be requested as an add-on service.
Pricing and Quotes
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on several factors, including stump diameter, number of stumps, accessibility, location, and site conditions. Because every job is different, we provide custom quotes.
How do I get a quote?
You can request a quote through our website, or by calling or sending a text message with a photo of the stump. Measurements and photos help us provide the most accurate quote.
How do I measure a stump for a quote?
Measure the diameter across the widest part of the stump at ground level. Include any visible root flare. Photos taken from a few feet away are very helpful.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes. There is a minimum service charge to cover equipment, travel, and setup time. This will be communicated as part of your quote.
Travel and Distance
Do you charge for travel or distance?
Our service area includes West Chicago and the surrounding communities. Jobs outside our standard service area may include a distance or travel charge, which will be disclosed upfront in your quote.
Scheduling and Timing
How far in advance do you schedule?
Scheduling depends on weather, workload, and job complexity. Once a quote is approved, we will coordinate a service date that works for both parties.
Do I need to be home during the service?
In many cases, you do not need to be present, provided we have access to the stump and clear instructions. This can be discussed during scheduling.
Weather and Site Conditions
What happens if the weather is bad?
Stump grinding is weather-dependent. Rain, snow, frozen ground, or unsafe conditions may require rescheduling. Safety is always the priority.
Will weather delays affect my price?
No. Weather-related delays do not change the quoted price.
What if there are underground obstacles?
Underground utilities, irrigation lines, rocks, or debris can affect stump grinding. Customers are responsible for identifying and marking private underground lines such as sprinklers or lighting.
Property and Safety
Will stump grinding damage my yard?
Stump grinding involves heavy equipment and ground disturbance. While we take care during the process, some impact to soil or grass should be expected.
Do you work near fences, sidewalks, or structures?
