Smags Services is a family owned stump grinding business based in West Chicago, Illinois. Our goal is simple, charge a fair price, provide reliable service, and build the kind of reputation that homeowners respect.

Joe oversees day-to-day field operations and equipment. In addition to his work with Smags Services, he has 35 years of experience working for the local electric utility, where his role involves working directly on overhead power lines, restoring service, and cutting and removing trees and branches to access utility poles. That background brings a strong emphasis on safety, situational awareness, and practical problem-solving to every job.

Teresa brings a unique perspective to the business as a Certified Public Accountant, having owned and operated her own accounting practice since 2011. While she continues to value her professional background, she also enjoys working outdoors and being hands-on, which is what led her to build Smags Services alongside her husband.

They are the parents of four boys, and much of their family life continues to revolve around hockey, which means countless hours at the rink and a schedule that rivals a full-time job.

Having been together for nearly four decades, Joe and Teresa bring clear communication, mutual trust, and a shared work ethic to the business.

Like many families, they are working hard to support their children’s education and future, and this business reflects their commitment to putting in the work to do just that.
